Enrolment criteria
The enrolment in the 1st year of the doctoral study programme is possible for the students who have completed:
- 2nd degree study program;
- study program from the fourth paragraph of Article 36 of the Act on Higher Education, if it is evaluated with 300 KT;
- four-year university undergraduate study program accepted before June 11, 2004;
- a study program for obtaining specialization after higher education professional education accepted before June 11, 2004, if he completes additional study obligations in the range of 30 to 60 ECTS;
- study program for obtaining a Master of Science or specialization after completing a study program for obtaining a university education, accepted before June 11, 2004. Upon enrollment,
- candidates are awarded 60 ECTS credit points in accordance with the law, which is decided by the study committee of the faculty.
- Anyone who has completed an equivalent education abroad also meets the conditions for enrollment.
All applicants enrolling in a study program conducted in English must demonstrate knowledge of the English language at level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) with an appropriate certificate.
Relevant proofs of fulfillment of this enrollment condition are:
- a certificate of passing the English language exam at level B2 or an equivalent certificate (e.g. TOEFL iBT score of 87-109, IELTS score of 5-6.5, Cambridge FCE, Oxford B2 Upper intermediate),
- matriculation certificate, which shows that the foreign language passed at the matriculation exam is English,
- certificate of completed secondary school education in English,
- a diploma of education obtained at a higher education institution in a study program that was conducted in English, and a certificate (statement) that the candidate completed the program in English.
Selection criteria in case of enrollment restriction
In the event that the number of applications for enrollment in the doctoral study program significantly exceeds the number of advertised places or its capacity (personnel, space, equipment, etc.), the Faculty will limit enrollment.
The following criteria will be taken into account when selecting candidates:
- average grade at the completed course, which is a requirement for enrollment – 60% of points;
- assessment of the final work – 40% of points.
Continuation of studies according to the criteria for transitions
The following can transfer to the 3rd-level Slovenian Studies doctoral study program:
- students and graduates of doctoral study programs III. degrees.
Transitions are possible between study programs:
which ensure the acquisition of comparable competences or learning outcomes at the end of the studies;
- among which, according to the criteria for recognizing knowledge and skills acquired before enrolling in the program, at least half of the obligations according to the European Transferable Credit System (hereinafter: ECTS) from the first study program, which refer to the compulsory subjects of the second study program, can be recognized.
The candidate can enroll in the same or a higher year of the 3rd-level Slovenian Studies study program, taking into account the scope of recognized obligations and fulfilling the conditions for enrollment in the 2nd or 3rd year of the 3rd-level Slovenian Studies study program. The candidate must also meet the enrollment requirements of the program to which he is transferring.
The Study Committee is responsible for dealing with applications from candidates for transitions.

About the Study Programme
Accredited doctoral study programme Slovenian Studies III is designed to enable the candidates in the postgraduate doctoral study programme to acquire and develop the knowledge, skills, competences and ability to understand the entire Slovenian national system in the field of habitat, natural environment, population, ethnicity, people, nation, recent history, economy, infrastructure, social and public services, state and statehood, constitution and other legal bases, language, culture, religion and faith, civilization, identity, historical and cultural heritage as well as other relevant fields and topics, which in content and complexity fully or partially meet the general competences:
- – ability to innovate and be creative,
- – ability to analyse, synthesize and anticipate solutions and consequences,
- – mastery of research methods, procedures and processes in the field of humanities and social sciences,
- – development of critical and self-critical judgement, – the ability to put the knowledge gained into practice,
- – autonomy in professional work,
- – ability to work independently,
- – ability to cooperate, for team work and work in research teams,
- – developing communication skills with a focus on the international environment,
- – ethical reflection and commitment to professional ethics.
Doctoral study programme Slovenian Studies III lasts for 3 years (6 semesters) and covers a total of 180 credits (ECTS).
